Thames Technology, a leading provider of innovative payment solutions, has announced that it is one of the first card manufacturers to offer Mastercard-approved pre-paid paperboard cards.
Designed exclusively for magnetic stripe only MasterCard badged pre-paid cards with limited use, Thames Technology's financial board cards meet the rising demand for sustainable financial card solutions. As an environmentally friendly alternative to PVC cards, they are ideal for any business using compensation or event cards or as open loop gift cards.
The cards are meticulously crafted using Holmen Iggesund’s Invercote paperboard which is produced at an ISO14001 and ISO9001 certified fossil fuel-free mill. The product is also bleached using an Elemental Chlorine Free (EFC) bleaching process, which is less harmful to the environment.
The paperboard used in the production of the pre-paid cards is 100% recyclable and compostable to EN 13432 standard and the material is sourced from forests that adhere to rigorous reforestation practices.
These factors not only ensure that the cards are even more sustainable than conventional paperboard options, but that they also contribute to the preservation of our planet’s invaluable ecosystems for generations to come.
Despite their eco-friendly composition, the pre-paid paperboard cards boast a premium look and feel that rivals traditional PVC options with high brightness printing quality as well as swipe durability.
Offering a seamless user experience without compromising the environmental aspects, the cards conform to ISO9706 requirements for performance with rigidity and thickness comparable to PVC cards.
Che Colford, General Manager at Thames Technology, said:
"We are thrilled to lead the industry with our Mastercard-approved pre-paid paperboard cards. Our commitment to sustainability and innovation is reflected in every aspect of these cards, from the responsibly sourced materials to the environmentally friendly production methods.
“We are sure that this product will resonate with environmentally conscious businesses looking for premium, sustainable financial solutions."
